Black Dog Video
So I just talked to the fellow at Black Dog, and apparently they will rent out local filmmakers work (for free). If you bring in a pro-looking DVD they will put it on their new release shelf as a free rental for "quite a while". He suggested we bring in a compilation DVD. I think that's a swell idea. Any takers? I volunteer to make up a super-pro DVD if you guys bring me your work.

I assume we are talking non student work?
all of my work is still from the student days...would that not be okay?
I totally still have lots of DVDs kicking around with super pro covers and everything. I'm down!
Well I think student work is ok in this case... i don't know that we have much else to work with!
And Alex, the guy said they don't have much space for a whole bunch of DVD's, so i was thinking of compiling them onto one or 2 DVD's, so what i really need is a quicktime i guess.
That is a totally cool idea - especially for films that have maxed out their festival run. The only issue is that this prevents distribution through Movieola, etc... so anyone attempting to get any kind of distribution (TV, web, etc...) should get that first. At the very least, don't mention the Black Dog connection when speaking with a distributor. The arrangement with Black Dog is awesomely community and might be okay but is something filmmakers might want to consider.
I CAN MAKE SOMETHING
I'm totally down. The last festival I was thinking of submitting to, on further investigation, is a joke.
So yeah, I'm down.
I'd even be willing to say my movie is a product of the Film Society...since it is...more or less.
excellent... I await your files with eager anticipation... in case you don't have it, my address is 2045 kitchener st. or if you can't drop them off for whatever reason let me know and we can figure something out.
